| Oh my, where did all the time go? |

I don't fear the end, I fear the dead-end. It's one thing to die, but to die without accomplishing anything scares me more than anything else in the physical world. We need meaning, as individuals and as a race. How could you live life with no other purpose but to live (in the physical sense)?
It's human nature to question, raise the bar, explore the unexplored, comprehend the unthinkable.
I fear stagnation.

| Talking to yourself, a guide for the lonely. |
[16 Sep 2006|01:44am] |
Sometimes, in our perfect, surreal lives, we get a chance to review ourselves critically. We get to replay choices we've made and countless events of seemingly minuscule circumstance. As minute and harmless as some memories may seem, they are in truth deadly, not for their content, but for their innate ability to linger in our minds for the better part of our lives. Everyone takes a different perspective to past experiences. We learn to cope in different ways. Some bury the past in desperation with hopes to separate themselves from their troubles, others review memories in some endless loop struggling to find a different way it could have happened while "what ifs" plague their conscious and unconscious minds and darken their dreams.
Perhaps there aren't many options for us creatures of habit. How do we break the sick addiction of poor self reflection which serves no other purpose but to violently deconstruct our individualism. What reasons do we have to fear the unknown?
It's so easy to be a victim of habit. It's why resolutions don't work, even if it is a new year.

Ok ... so I have a road bike frame I want to paint, I dont want to spend big dollar on this, but I also dont want a super cheap rattle-can style job. Suggestions? anyone?
I was hoping to do this myself.

Any Russian students in the gainesville area willing to make a trade off? I want to learn the basics in Russian and would be willing to teach someone the nuances of Idiomatic American in exchange for such services.

In reflection on the early morning, it seems our clean shaven boob is not really all that clean. I made this observation when I pit-stopped in Krispy Kreme on the way home. He happened to be dining there when I walked in. He was slouched over the counter with a cup of coffee in his hand, I assumed that to be a gift of pity from the store manager since said manager seemed amused by the man. The once seemingly clean shaven boob was not so clean, merely well dressed in unwashed clothing. His persistent rambling of numbers, figures, and meaningless phrases accompanied by occasional laughter had not changed from what I remembered of him. The poor soul was lost. At least he seemed pleased, disregarding his ignorance of what life he had. He was nothing more than a shell of a man left in shambles of some previously normal existence.

I pushed the two packages I had forward, slightly, to the Post Office attendant. One was boxed and the other was an insulated envelope. The attendant evaluated, weighed, and queried the package contents all the while slipping in offers of stamps, shipping services, and other absurd things to no avail on her behalf. I had begun to think about events yet to transpire later in the day or lack there of such events when the silence around me was broken, keep in mind that when I refer to silence around me I mean the personal silence, I had taken a short mental vacation, the Post Office had an ample amount of noise.
“The total comes out to $18.54,” she said expectantly. I handed her a twenty dollar bill out of my wallet, she took it and set it on the package scale. For a moment it seemed she was weighing the bill as if expecting to find some hidden value not otherwise noted on the bill itself. The wheels in my head turned for a second, then I realized that was the most absurd thing thing I had ever heard. Time unfroze around me and she changed me out with a few quick key strokes. I made my way to the door to escape the bland office when I caught a glimpse of a folded white paper sitting on the package prep counter just to the left. It was mine, client shipping information scribbled all over it. For a fraction of a second I considered just leaving it on the counter, but opted to throw it away in the neighboring trash can out of respect, hardly concern, for their privacy.

So I walk into the HCC library and make my way to the public computers. While setting my stuff down I catch a glimpse of what the person in front of my is doing.
On his screen:
http://www.gay.com/
live chat with a huge pic of some clothed guy next to the huge chat window.
Not that I care, but it was comical that he is in a chatroom designed to assist in finding dates while on campus.
